"Za Zu Swing"/"Cushion Foot"
by The Five Jinks
on Bluebird B-6905-A/B
released in 1937
Above: Picture of The Five Jinks taken from a 1937 Bluebird Records catelog. They sang in a similar style as the 1930's Mills Brothers, The Five Jones Boys, and other vocal groups of that time.... only one guitar, but simulating other instruments with their voices.
Above: Label image of Bluebird B-6905-A released in April 1937. Bluebird was a subsidiary of RCA Victor. Neither side shows composer credits. The Five Jinks had three releases, all on Bluebird between March and May 1937. All six sides were recorded on 2/20/37 in rooms 1050, 1052 and 1054 at the Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, NC. They borrowed heavily from songs previously released by The Mills Brothers. For example, the "A" side of their second record, "I'm Moaning All Day For You," had been done by The Mills Brothers as "Moanin' For You" on Decca in 1935.Listen to this week's selections by The Five Jinks from 1937: [Audio restoration by Dave Saviet.]
