PHOTO CAPTION: ONE "WATCH THE BIRDIE" DOES DOUBLE-DUTY FOR SMOOTHIES
The Smoothies, who make every minute count, posed for two pictures at once. While the CBS photographer was setting up his camera and getting ready to ask them to "watch the birdie," Little Ryan shot some motion pictures of his singing partners, Charlie Ryan and Babs. The singing trio have been signed to join Hal Kemp's band on the new "Time to Shine" series, on Columbia network, beginning Tuesday, May 2 [1939]. - (WABC-CBS, 10:00 to 10:30 PM, EDST).

Above: Label image for Bluebird B-10295-B. The Smoothies, who were with Hal Kemp And His Orchestra at the time, had many releases on Bluebird/RCA Victor (1939-40). Previously, as "Babs And Her Brothers", they had four releases on Decca (1935-36) and were affiliated with Fred Waring's Orchestra.

The flip side, "Chew-Chew-Chew" shows "Ram" as one of the composers. This was probably the ubiquitous Buck Ram.
