Above Left: Photo of Lucky Millinder.The Lucky Millinder Orchestra was formed in 1940 and became one of the most rhythmically exciting bands on the swing circuit. He gradually shifted away from swing and more toward early rhythm & blues as the 1940's progressed. In addition to Annisteen Allen and John Carroll, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Wynonie Harris, Paul Breckenridge, and Bull Moose Jackson were all featured vocalists with his band.
