This was The James Quintet's only record with Powell. They had only one other release on Atlantic, that with Ruth Brown (1952). On their own, The James Quintet had four releases on Coral (1948-49), two on Derby (1949-50), and two on Decca (1951). Their usual lead singer was Danny Johnson.

Austin Powell had been with The Cats And The Fiddle since their inception, recording with them from 1939 to 1951.
